Day 1: Marrakech – Tizi N’chika – Telouet – Ait Benhaddou – Draa Valley – Zagora
The culture you’ll find in Zagora is very different to that of the northern towns and cities, dusty streets, terracotta buildings, huge skies. Zagora, in the south-east of Morocco, is a place that is inextricably linked with the Sahara Desert. Named after the nearby mountain. We will start our trip to Zagora city from Marrakech, in two days we will explore the south of Morocco across a corridor the High Atlas mountain range (Tizi N’Tichka 2260m), where you can spot the traditional Berber villages. We can stop in a local cooperative run by women who extract the Argan oil from the trees and discover how to use it in cosmetics and treatment, we will have a short time there. You can buy the products if you want. Our tour begins in the Draa Valley and we drive to the kasbah Telouet, sometimes also called Glaoui palace, is a kasbah built in the XVIIIe and XIXe centuries, located in the small Berber village of Telouet. Afterworld we drive to the ksar Ait Benhaddou (it is about 45 km from Teouet) which is recognized by UNESCO as a world patrimony for having been a setting for many films such as The Mummy and Gladiator. Lawrence of Arabia, Black Hawk Down, The Message, and most recent critically acclaimed series Game of Thrones. We will take lunch here near the kasbah before continue to enjoy the natural beauty and historical monuments such as Kasbah Taourirt in Ouarzazate and Palm Oases.
We will resume the direct travel to Zagora (170 km from Ouarzazate) while enjoying the watching of the famous palm grove. When you reach Zagora, you will meet the camels’ driver and head to the desert on top of your friendly camel while the sun sinks below the horizon. Just before dark, you will reach the desert camp. A traditional dinner is served, and you can spend the night watching for shooting stars or dance around the campfire to the beat of the desert drums.
Day 2: Zagora – Agdz – Studio of cinema – Marrakech
In the early morning you can enjoy the sunrise over the sand dunes in the Zagora desert and, eat typical breakfast inside the Berber camp. Afterward we hop on our 4×4 to studio cinema of Ouarzazate it’s famous film studios whose scenery has been used in many films successful, is also known as Hollywood of Morocco. Overnight at your Riad/Hotel in Marrakech.
